Inventor 2015 Crashes After OPening Large Assembly

Hi,

I have created and assembly and now cannot use it as, for ther second day running, Inventor has crashed upon opening it.

I can open and work on other parts/assemblies, however this one does not work.

Many thanks for the feedback! It should be related to the specific dataset. Could you attach the dataset or send it to me @ River-Yijiang.Cai@autodesk.com for further investigation?

Thanks,

Hi River,

Unfortunately the assembly involved is one of our whole products (hence the large size), which for secutity/IP reasons we cannot send out.

Is there another way to examine this?

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Are you running out of Ram? Can you get some of your PC spec's? Also can you open some of the parts or the other assemblies in it without crashing?

I agree with Michael, it seems that it might be a PC issue, so PC specs may help. How many parts to the assembly? Are there any that you can open of similar size?

hi Mdavis and rg97,

Thanks for the replies and ideas. Yes I will be checking how much ram is being used when I open the assy.

I can open other sub-assy's from the large assy.

Sysrem spec:

Installed RAM: 16 GB

Processor: Intel Core 3.5 Ghz

System: 64 bit, x64 based processor

OS: Windows 8.1 pro

Assembly size: 16.1 MB, between 7-100 individual parts.

Regards,

Ernest

When the crash happens, are you sending in the error report?  If so, your browser should open and display the resulting report id.  If you can provide that we can look into the database to see what might be going wrong.  If you don't have the report id, then I'd need the email address you are entering into the error report dialog.

Thanks.  That crash is a VBA crash caused by corruption in the inventor.ivb file and is fixed with Inventor 2015 Update 1.  When you sent in the CER your browser should have opened with a link to the update.  You should have also received an automated email with a link to the update.

Here is the direct link for the download:
