I have just updated to Autodesk Product Design Suite 2014.
Opening Inventor 2014 works fine.
If i try to open any existing files, or create a new file it will instantly crash.
Example:
If i go to New > Part
The ribbon on the bottom of the screen goes through the motions of loading all the necessary features.
The new part window (entitled: Part1) opens for a fraction of a second (but shows no detail).
The Part Tree shows up for a fraction of a second.
Then before the background and drawing planes show up the whole program closes.
I've attached a screenshot of the moment just before the Part tree appears and the program closes.
I have tried creating parts, assemblies, drawings and also tried opening current parts, assemblies and drawings and get the same response. Inventor 2013 has been working perfectly with no issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do all the paths in your Applications Options File tab exist?
Thanks for your advice, but i managed to solve this myself.
Went to Options, Hardware, and ticked 'software graphics'.
I have no idea what this does or why i need it checked but everything now works correctly.
I assume this needs to be ticked if your graphics card isn't fully compatible with inventor. I'm pretty sure my graphics card is fine but this solves the problem.

Hi s.peters,
The software graphics setting is really only intended for diagnostics. Running Inventor using the software graphics option will cause it to run very slowly. But the fact that this does resolve the issue for you, point to your graphics card as the issue.
It sounds like updating/rolling back the graphics card drivers or replacing the graphics card is likely what is needed.
I hope this helps.

I would download and save the current Microsoft Certified drivers. Do a full un-install of the existing drivers, system re-boot and clean install of the new drivers.
