New to Inventor, making slow progress.
I have created a work plane using two coplanar edges, one of which is the centre position for the object I want to draw.
The sketch origin point in not at the intersection of the X-Y axes.
Is this correct?
Why would the origin point not be at the X-Y intersection?
Can you post a screen shot?

Or better yet - post the ipt file.
Thanks for the reply - attached snapshots showing the origin point & the workplace.
Can you attach your ipt file here (or a file that exhibits the unexpected behavior)?
Origin will be projected normal to sketch plane.
BTW - looks to me like you are missing a bend in your part.
What happens if you
1. right click on the Center Point and turn on Visible
2. left click on the workplane (or part face) and click Look At (assuming the sketch is also set to Visible).
Tahnks for the quick respone. It's a bit late for me now but I'll answer your question in the morning.
Meanwhile, I've attached the element in question.
I don't see anything unexpected in your file (although I would not change the color/linetype properties as you did).
I'm not sure where you expect the origin to be...
The origin (Center Point) is projected onto the sketch in a direction perpendicular to the sketch plane. See the image below:

Thanks chaps. Being a noob on Inventor extends to my comprehension of the 3D co-ord system.
Not having followed a structured entry to the Inventor world, I suffer a hole in my understanding.
Still, it's far l;ess stressful than MEP
