Inventor 2014 Networked version loses VBA ivb path\Name in config.

We share two network controlled seats of Inventor Professional.

It appears that Inventor loses then VBA ivb path\Name in config.

It appears to happen when someone tries to open their copy of Inventor when a network seat is not available.

Any help would be great.  We are getting tired of having to repoint to

the VBA project every couple of times we launch inventor.

Gruff,

I believe that you true issue is with the installation of Office 365.

I have attached a PDF on how to reinstall your VBA for Inventor.

Please try this and let us know of your results.

Thank you.

Bob,

While it is true I tested out a single seat of Office 365 back at the beginning of the year

It was only on my development PC and removed it after a couple of weeks.

No one in the entire company has Office 365.  Indeed we bought full blown seats of Office 2010 for all our users.

Our many stand alone seats of Inventor do not exhibit the issue.  Only our networked seats.

Also I do not think you grasp the problem.   It is not the VBA install that gets lost.

It is the config path to our network located custom .IVB files that gets lost.

The second to last entry on the "Files" tab of config.

Regards,

Tom

Gruff,

Where are you pointing to for your Default VBA Project?

The Inventor default location is:

%PUBLICDOCUMENTS%\Autodesk\Inventor 2014\Default.ivb

This translates to:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2014\Default.ivb

Thank you.

Bob,

All of our custom VBA projects are located on one of our networked drives.  Always has been.

As I said previously.  All of our stand alone seats remember this configuration setting and always have.

Networked seats pre-2014 remembered this setting also.

(I:\Inventor Design Standards\2014\Inventor VBA Project Files\<EngineersName>.ivb)

In 2014 If one of the network seats is available when you launch inventor it uses the config file above.

If a networked seat is not available it appears to  reset to the configuration to %PUBLICDOCUMENTS%\Autodesk\Inventor 2014\Default.ivb

This is not something we are doing different from previous versions of inventor.

---

Historically the reason for keeping our custom VBA project files in a central location is so I can update or add

new vba programs for all users at one time.

Gruff,

If you use two separate IVB files (????-net.IVB) and copy of ????.IVB, doe sit make a difference?

I am trying to figure out (with your assistance) if it is just the IVB file that is the issue.

Thank you.

Every user has their own custom ivb file.

The user of the network seat sets the inventor config to point to his unique .ivb.

No one shares the same .ivb file.

As long as a network seat is available there is no problem with the inventor config.

If you try to start inventor and a network seat is not available inventor tells you so and closes.

once you are able to latch onto a free network seat the config gets reset to default.

This did not happen in previous versions of inventor.

If you want to discuss this in more detail give me a call 9am - 4pm PST at 503-366-8274
