You shouldn't have any issues using Inventor 2014 on either win8 or win8.1, as long as you are current on Inventor service packs/updates.

Ensure you have installed Inventor SP2 & then Update2:

SP2: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-in...

Update2: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/update-2-fo...

Hope this helps,

Chris

91MB wait for the download to finish double click next next. and everything will go smoothly.

I cannot find anything that resolves this problem for Inventor Suite 2010.  I've just had to reload this software onto a new hard drive and this error persists.  Any direction to a way to resolve this would be very welcome.  Thank you.

There is no way to run Inventor 2010 on win8.1

Your only option is to upgrade to a newer release of Inventor, or revert to win7 or 8 if you must stay on 2010.

Sorry I don't have a better answer,

Chris

Thank you Chris for replying so promptly.

The options you suggest are not feasible and therefore my Inventor Suite 2010 files are stranded on my PC and cannot be accessed - neither can I use Inventor any more.  A disappointing end to my first use of CAD.

Kind regards,

Andrew

I have a Win 8.1 and the problem is the same for me... Just for an Inventor program I don't want to change the operation system!

Bom dia senhores,

Fiz da seguinte forma e deu certo para o inventor 2011. instalei o "hotfix inventor 2011 unexpectedly exits after updating to windows 8.1", arquivo "DL22541232.zip". Logo após a instalação, fui ao "paniel de controle", "programas e recursos". Selecionei o inventor e cliquei para "desisntalar/ alterar". Quanto a tela do inventor abriu, selecionei a opção "repair or reinstall". Apos reinstalar o inventor funcionou normalmente.

Fiquem na paz de DEUS.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your help with this.

You mentioned this:

We don't officially support LT2012 on win8.1 - however you "should" be able to use the fixed rse.dll file for full Inventor 2012. I'll send you that off-line.

Before I give up, is there any way to get inventor LT 2011 to run on windows 10?

Inventor 2011 provides the same error: unable to start 0xc0000142.

I was surprised it did not run under windows 7 compatibility mode.

Thanks again.

Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave,

In theory yes, although completely unsupported - see the hotfix for Inventor 2011:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/hotfix-inv...

You'd need to replace your existing Rse.dll file with the one from that .msp file; I doubt that you'd be able to simply run that msp file though since it was for Inventor not LT. Whether you can find a way to extract files from .msp files, I don't know....

You'll also need to re-register the new dll from the command line using:

InventorLT.exe /install

If the msp file doesn't work for you, let me know & I'll see if I can get the actual dll file for you.

Thanks

Chris
