2014 Inventor LT SP1 fixed my installand got past the 0xC0000142 error.  Had difficult time with Internet Explorer because it was unstable and crashed several times. Once the SP was installed I was able to register my serial number and launch the Inventor LT. Launching AutoCAD 2014 LT has not been an issue.  Have not used Inventor enough to tell if there are any other issues.

You know what? There too many choices for me to try and make this work. Verdict: Uninstalling.

I'm trying to install and run the free student version of Autodesk Inventor Professional 2014 - WIN 64 - EN. It seemed to install but when i run it i too get the windows 8.1 error message:The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). I've then tried to update using the service pack that fixes this, but wheni run Inventor2014_SP1_x64.msp i get another error message about 90% through its installation (attached): Installation ended prematurely because of an error, and it doesn't install it. Help?!?

My specs:

Operating System
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU
    Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz

I was goint to post the link but since you are a student, you might as well learn. At the bottom of this web page is a colum labeled Help & Support. Directly below this column is the phrase and link "Service packs & updates". This will then take you to a web page that you can then select the ADSK product you require updating.

Make sure that Inventor is not shown as installed on your system: Control Panel>Programs and Features. If so you will need to use the Autodesk Un-Install Tool to remove the software or just use the Windows Uninstall. Make sure that you are logged in as Administrator to re-install the software. I would make sure that all Anti-Virus software is disabled. Possibly you were only logged in with normal user rights and not Admin rights.

Hi Chris, I am running inventor 2012 LT and i have the same error as above. I see you mention that the hotfix will be availble soon for 2012 LT, is it available yet please? Thanks, Stu

Message 97 of 131

Stu,

We don't officially support LT2012 on win8.1 - however you "should" be able to use the fixed rse.dll file for full Inventor 2012. I'll send you that off-line.
