I have uninstalled and reinstalled Inventor 2014 5 or 6 times and I am still recieving the error code 0xC0000142 upon start up. I also have AutoCAD installed, which starts up fine.
Error Log:
After installing SP1 for Inventor Pro 2014 on my Windows 8.1 PC, Inventor still will not work. I no longer get the "0xc000..." error, but the program is still not launching. The initial loading screen appears, then quickly goes away, and Inventor never starts up after that. Anyone else having this problem? VERY VERY frustrating.
Hi,
Did you try executing the command line prompt as referenced in the SP1 ReadMe ?
Perform the steps in the following solution link to re-register Inventor after SP1 is successfully installed.
Unable to Save As or Import DWG/DXF
Note that there is also Update1 fore SP1 available now.

Yes, I had done it previously (the update 1 to SP1 and also the command prompt procedure). To be sure, I did both again.
Same problem. I clicked my Inventor shortcut on the taskbar, the loading screen appears, disappears, and then nothing happens. In my task manager, "Autodesk Inventor 2014" is listed as a background process, and then it also disappears when the loading screen goes away. I really don't know what to do at this point.
Now will this also be out for Inventor 2013. I use this one because it's what my school has and im hoping I won't have to download Inventor 14 just for it to work.
All fixes have been released. Please see the relevent support page for your version from:

What sort of h/w are you running ? If you have a laptop with onboard grpahics chip as well as a separate graphics card, try disabling one of them.
Do the log files in your %temp% folder reveal anything ?
Thanks
Chris
Brand new (maybe 2 months old, tops) HP desktop PC:
Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
12 GB ram
Windows 8.1, 64-bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 display adapter
Any suggestions on this? Would it help to do a complete re-install of Inventor?
Hi Andy,
What troubleshooting steps in the thread have you already taken to rectify the issue?
What kind of hardware are you working with?
Did you already install the necessary service packs?
If you could provide any additional nformation it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Jessica,
Sorry, I should mention that I am "across2211" above. One account I use at work, the other at home.
All service packs / updates are installed. I did the command prompt procedure, and can't get past the loading screen of Inventor. After it disappears, so too does the process in task manager.
Can you check that you have full access rights to the %temp% folder ? Someone else had issues on win8.1 where they didn't have all the necessary rights there.
Remove all explicit permissions on %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp and set to inherit permissions.
Or, go to Local Policies > Security Options, scroll to the bottom and set 'User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode' to Disabled, then reboot.
Otherwise my only other suggestion is to uninstall/reinstall.
Thanks,
Chris
I just uninstalled/reinstalled. Same problem! I can't believe this is still happening. Have you come across anyone else with this same problem?
You could have a corrupt Profile. I will post a Windows Registry settings to repair the Windows Registry when I get back in the office next week.
I am also having this problem. Inventor Pro 2014 on windows 8.1
Edit: After installing SP1, Inventor seems to be working fine!
Blair, could you post these registry settings you mentioned? I really don't know what else I can do at this point. Thanks a lot!
Dont have any of those folders you are descriping there under %appadata%/autodesk/
at that location i have
Aotodesk sync
DWG Trueview
Web Services
But none labeled Inventor
