Maybe you know what didn't work, but the rest of us need a little

I have no idea. I was simply providing enough information so that the
Autodesk programmers might be able to troubleshoot this on going problem and
come up with a solution.

You should use the "Autodesk" crash report function, they will still need an
explantion of what you where/are doing that results in the crash.

MikeMc, Blair (who is FAR from a troll on this newsgroup..which BTW is for peer to peer discussion and not an Autodesk support board where you get help from Autodesk employees..although they do post quite regularly here too) was simply asking for more information like what were you doing when it crashed... examples like I was extruding a shape or closing inventor or opening the program or whatever. That type of information/details can really help us narrow down the problem.
I believe WScommCntr2 is the Comminication center/Info center part of Inventor (the radar looking icon in the top right of the program.) Your problem "might" easily be caused by firewall settings causing Comm center to fail. I would first start by turning off any firewall programs you might have running, restart your computer and see if the problem clears. Maybe even turning off some of the things the comm center is trying to update you one and see if it clears too.

At the risk of being called yet another troll, here's some info that is

I have also as well have been experiencing this issue, what happens is Info Center will lock up when using it, the process does not terminate automatically, and also when I highlight the Sattelite icon on the Info Center or any icon, the BOLD lettering is missing letters which would indicate to me a fault in the application. This is happening in AutoCAD 2011 and Inventor 2011 as well. Enclosed is the error logs from this PC. Any insight would be much appreciated as we use AutoCAD in our school and is widely used. Thanks.

we also have this problem. both with WScommcntr1.exe and WScommcntr2.exe

I'm currently trying if the problem gets solved when running the exe-file in compatibility mode.

From what Autodesk has told me, it is related to the ntdll.dll file which is a Windows system 32 file. At times that file can get corrupted and when that happens, a fresh reinstall is the only way to fix it. That is what we have been doing lately and works. That's the only workaround for now, as there isn't any solution.

Hi

Found a work round works on our machines Go in registry and change the below

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.1\ACAD-XXXX:XXX\InfoCenter

Where XXXX:XXX depends on the product and language, which is 9001:409 for
AutoCAD 2011 English.

Change the "InfoCenterOn" value to 0.

You also need to opt out of the CIP (Customer Involvement Program).

Yeah I have done that and while it does work, the issue is that they use InfoCenter in the labs and for the students they need to use it, so what we end up doing is to re-image the affected PCs.

Otherwise yes that would work so thanks.
