Inventor 2011 error in WIN10

As I am working professionaly on Inventor 2011, I have installed a version at home.

Last weekend I upgraded PC to Win10.

Autocad Mechanical 2011 is working fine (except for some paths I have to correct)

Inventor 2011 however gives an error 0xc0000142 and refuses to open. Does anyone has experience with it ? How to solve this ?

I don't think I'll be exaggerating when I state Autodesk will not support 2011 software on Win10. Unless you happen to find the solution yourself or by means of somebody else posting a fix, solution or work-around, I would recommend rolling back to your previous OS while you still have time, 1 month IRC.

Your best option is to....

Roll back to Windows 7 or 8 while you still can..

http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/

But there should be a hotfix/update/service pack for 2011 to take care of that.. (same problem when Win 8 came out for 2011 and up users)

Install them.. and if that doesn't work then roll back to a previous version of Inventor..

Next time check system requirements for all the software you use before you do something as drastic as changing your operating system as sadly companies can't seem to fix their software fast enough when a new OS comes out.. even though they have had plenty of time..

Autodesk has not suggested any hotfix/update/service pack for 2011 to run on Win 10.

You are correct.. But I saw a post from someone at Autodesk that claimed it was the same issue with Win8 and that hotfix "should" allow it to work on Win10 also..

Note: This was an "unofficial" statement and I may have "read between the lines" a bit.. But it was suggested and seemed to fix that persons Win10 problem..

I installed service pack 2

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-inventor-2011-service-pa...

Then I installed service pack 2 client update for vault 2012

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/updated-630...

Then I installed the Hotfix - Inventor 2011 unexpectedly exits after updating to Windows 8.1

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/hotfix-inve...

And now Inventor 2011 starts again under win 10. Everything seems to be working again

Good to hear you got it working. Could you clarify what you did exactly? You mentioned "updating to Win 8.1" and then in the next sentence you stated it's now working in Win10. Did you roll back to 8.1 at some point? If possible it might help others with 2011 or any version Autodesk will not be supporting on Win10 (such as 2011) to post what you did in the order you did it. Tks.

I'm sure that "updating to Win 8.1" statement was just taken from the description of that hotfix..

I did not install or rolback to Win 8.1. This is just the name of the hotfix. (as also noticed by McGyvr)

It seems the same (or similar) problem was found at the moment Win 8.1 was installed in 2013.

It was a long shot, but in my case it seemed to work.
