Inventor 2011: Ballooning Assembly Problem

Ran across something new. One of my users came to me with a problem. While trying to attach balloons to different parts inside views for a large assembly, the user was not able to select all of the parts. Inventor just would not highlight the components the user wanted to select.

After coming to me looking for a work-around, I opened the same file and was able to select the same parts this user wasn't able to. I went to other systems in the department and found that these systems could also select the same parts.

This is a strange one, the only thing about the parts that was unique was they were contained within phantom subassemblies that were iAssemblies. But that doesn't explain why one CAD system worked and another did not.

All systems were comparable Dell workstations, some are XP64 and others were Windows 7-64. CAD systems were all Inventor Pro 2011 and configured identically originally (I did try changing the App Options back to baseline with no changes).

Anyone have an idea why this one system behaves so differently. Because it works on other systems correctly, I don't believe the file is corrupted in any way. Short of a repair or re-install of Inventor software on the offending system, I don't know what other solution to try. Anyone have any ideas before I do that.

Hi,

There was a similar issue solved with this hotfix:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15958872&linkID=9242019

Make sure that it is installed, and please install also the latest updates from our website. This is the link:
