Inventor 2009 crash opening .step file

I have a large .step file of a single part. When I try to have Inventor 2009 open the file, I will get a prompt that the program has used over 80% of the memory and then crash. Even when Inventor is the only program running on my computer, I will still get this problem. Is there any other way to open this part to work with this file.

Here are my computer specs,

Operating System: XP
CPU: 4/2 Quad
Memory: 4G DDRZ
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Quadra 128
Free HardDrive: 500G Rade 5

Please attach file if you can so others can test on their system to determine if its Inventor or if its the STEP files problem.

I can't do that. I would like to, but this is a prototype part that is very confidential. I am not allowed to let anyone else view this file. They resent me the part and I had the same issues.

How large?

You can try to open it with MDT using the STEPIN command.

actaylor95,

Will meet crashes when reading some simple STEP file, or just this file?
I suggest to try 3G switch with this STEP file.

Any questions, can get me via e-mail.

Cheers,
