Inv 7 installation with New Computer & expecting better results

I recently received a new computer at work. I am told that the hardware is compatible with Pro-E (Inv 7 also?). I would expect better performance with Inv 7 and the new computer than I have experienced with the older computer and Inv 5.3. Here is a list of spec’s on the new computer.
Dell Precision 450
CPU: 2.40 GHz
Ram: 2,096,132kb
Disk: FUJITSU MAP3367NP SCSI
ATI FIRE GLXI Video Accelerator
Running Microsoft Windows 2000 on a network. I do not know how the anti-virus software is set up. That may be slowing things down. I am experiencing lock-ups and errors which cause unexpected exits of Inventor. The following error occurred in Inv 5.3 as well.
“AutoDesk Inventor was unable to initialize OpenGL (The pixel format is invalid.). Please do one or more of the following: a) check to see if other OpenGL applications run correctly, b) go to the Tools>Application Options>Hardware tab and change to ‘Override: Use GDI Generic’, c) adjust your driver’s settings in the Control Panel, d) reboot, e) reinstall your graphics display driver.”
I have tried each of the above except “e” since this is a new computer. Inv 7 is not running any smoother or faster. The major issue seems to be hardware compatibility with Inventor. Can someone tell me where I can find recommendations for a system tested and approved for use with Inventor 7?

Sadly you ended up with a brand of graphics card notorious for not
working with Inventor. If you can, exchange for a 3Dlabs Wildcat or a
nVidia Quadro4 or Quadro FX series card.

If you open IV and go to "Help", "Graphics Drivers" you will see a web page that lists the certified drivers for IV. Your card needs the 6.13.10.1034 drivers. As you can see problems exist with some of the other versions. To be safe you ought to install the hardware lib available from that location as well.
