Intersection Dimensions in Broken Views

Running Inventor 2013, when dimensioning a broken view, if an intersection is use to define the location of the leader, the dimension is created correctly but the crossing lines defining the intersection are mislocated in the view (see attached pic).

You are talking about the virtual sharp intersections?

Interesting???  How did you reate the sharps?  The dimensions are accurate in location.

Or are you talking about something different.  Can you post your files?

Yes, I'm talking about the virtual sharps.  I created them using the dim intersection option as I was creating the dimension.

Please see the attachments.

Thanks,

Brian

They were done after the broken view was created.

You got me a little confused here. You mentioned you added the dimension after the broken view was created. Is that true?

The reason I ask is I can repeat what you have shown only if I create the dimension first then use the broken view command.  If I use the broken view command then dimension the part I get what is expected.

Did you do anything else to edit that view after using the broken view and before or after adding the dimension?

I have now tried it both ways and get the same result.  However, why should it matter?

And, no, I didn't do anything else to edit the view.

As I looked at the case as my results differ from yours I seen I was using Inventor 2014 which had the results I explained earlier.

I then recreated a sample file in Inventor 2013 SP2 Update 5 and I couldn’t repeat the issue at all. I created a view in two different sheets. One I created the break view first. In the second sheet I created the break after adding dimensions. In both cases I was able to use the break command and the intersections annotation stayed in place in each.

Please check to see that your Inventor 2013 has SP 2 with Update 5 applied. Then try repeating the issue.

I'm on Inventor 2013, Service Pack 2, Build 200.

I'm on Inventor 2013, Service Pack 2, Build 200 but I didn't have any updates applied.  I just installed Update 5 but ended up with the same results as before.

Would it be possible to get the file in question?

If you can’t post it to the discussion group I can arrange another method.

Also have you tried creating this as a test in another file? Creating a sample test file would eliminate the file itself if you can repeat it. As not be able to repeat it, it leaves only two avenues. One is the file itself the other being a possible issue with your user account or OS.

The files are attached to an earlier post.

It seems the issue is using the Include Route Center Lines. This has been reported to QA.

For a work around use the Center Line Bisector command in place of the Include Route Center lines. This will not do the radius but it will follow the view and allow you to dimension the views.

Has QA reported anything back on this issue?
