Install 2008 upgrade or wait.

I received my IV 2008 Pro Upgrade and I am leery about running the upgrade now or should I wait until all the inevitable bugs are worked out?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We migrated as soon as we got the release. Found it to be as stable as
IV11sp2

Thank you. I was told by my reseller that 2008 loads quicker, is this true?

R2008 by no way loads or installs faster. In fact its larger than ever
now being shipped on 2 DVD's.

And R2008 is a very stable release, although there are lots of "little"
bugs, I am actually very impressed with how little crashing I have had.
Hopefully we will sp1 out soon to fix up the small stuff.

In the past we have loaded each new release as soon as it arrives. But this release (all new releases) we are trying to wait until SP1 comes out. It all depends on what the bugs/issues are with a new release. Sometimes its not problem to work around the bugs, other times you can waste a few days on a new release and its issues.
and a few days wasted each year is not what we need.
(of course I probably waste a few days just browsing this forum each year)

I wish ADSK would do a 2 year release cycle just to have more time to work out the bugs before the software is released.

I haven't had a crash in 2 weeks, and haven't found any big problems so far, probably turn everyone loose with it next week.

IV 2008 installed without issue and I've had no problems. I was quite leery after the install nightmare I had with IV11 (sp2 was fine once installed). I was also please that the content center seems to work out of the box now.

Thank you. As you stated, it comes in a two DVD package. Each disk is approx 4 Gb. This seems like a lot of new stuff should be in it for just an upgrade considering the original IV11 Pro install was half the size at 4 GIG's.
The temptation is there but I think I'll hold off for a while. I have two clients that are still using AutoCAD 2002 and one that is still running R14! I really have only one firm that stays up to date with their software and they have not upgraded yet.
The customer is always right so I think I will let the almighty dollar decide for me.

SP2 in IV 11 was a lifesaver for me because SP1 got me all messed up.
Are there any issues with Database?

have not had any chrashes yet.
2008 fixed a bug with certain content center files in partslists. Some
flanges showed up with the same balloon no although different. The partslist
showed "varies" in the size collumn. This is fixed.

We upgraded as soon as the disk arrived. . . And I am happy we did. . there are only 2 of us here so it was a pretty easy change. .but I can tell you we have had no more crashes than we did with R11sp2 and the drawings open soooo much faster... I had one assembly that would take 19 minutes to open in R11 and only takes 4 in 2008. . .(presonal results may vary but these are mine).. .there are lots o little things that when we find we call each other and like check this out..

just a few bugs that annoy us be we work around them and do not regret going to 2008.
