Insert notch in Inventor Sheet Metal?

Hi all.

Is there a way to create an insert notch in a sheet metal part? I've tried searching all around, but there doesn't seem to be a tool or procedure to create one.

I'm trying to create something like this.

Any help will be greately appreciated.

Cheers.

Try the "Punch" Sheet Metal tool.

There are a few tutorials around for things like louvres.

Try this for getting started: http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/iFeatures/index.htm

Thanks for the link, pcrawley. Pity it didn't come up as a search result sooner.

As a workaround, I ended up using the Punch -> Square emboss tool, and doing an extrude cut on two sides to make it happen. The lance bridge iFeature in that link looks and works better!

Cheers.

No problem.

That site is very old - Inventor 5 or 6 era I think, but Mr Bliss still maintains legendary status here in the community.

Some of the other tools on that site are as relevant today as they were when that site was built.

Agreed. Lots of iFeatures in that site which no doubt will prove handy somewhere down the line.
