Incorrect units when translating

I have a assembly in SAT that I know is in millimeters. When I am opening the
file, under options, I pick Units of SAT file as millimeters. When it
translates, though, it comes in 25.4 times size.

Hi Dave

A while back I believe Jeff Howard posted some information on how to change
the header in a Sat file.

Ahh here it is ....maybe this will help

*********************************************

This get's confusing for a simple guy like myself, but I think the acad file
that was written out had units set as mm or mm was used as an export option.

Anyway, open the .sat in Notepad and look at the third line. It should
like:

1 9.9999999999999995e-007 1e-010

if it's written out as mm's.

The first field is the unit scale factor, so

1 = mm,
25.3999... = inch,
-1 = unitless,
etc.

(ACIS is unitless, but uses a default of mm to avoid confusion, therefore
scale factor 1 = mm.)

If this is the case, change the first field to "-1". This tells the reading
system that the model in "unitless" and you should be able to spec the units
when opening the file. If that doesn't do it holler back and we'll try
again.

Thank you very much! I never even knew you could edit an .sat like that.

Did you try inches and see if it is normal in size? The SAT might be
exported as inches from another program but it is a metric part. 25.4 is
exactly the conversion between metric and inches.

The previous post worked. Thanks, though.
