Importing Large DWG. file into Inventor

I'm currently working on a project that is a complicated object that has many parts. The original object is in DWG format and when I import it into inventor it creates a part for each solid (as expected). However there are some parts in the object that are the same for example a column. When inventor imports the DWG model it creates 20 different parts for the column instead of 1 part 20 times. Is there any way to get inventor to recognise that they are the same part and only produce 1 part file instead of 20?

Are the components in some sort of pattern?

If yes, I think I would take note of the pattern(s), delete the extra in AutoCAD (in a back-up file) save and then import that into Inventor and Pattern Component.

I do not know of an "Easy Button" solution.

Thanks,

I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.
