I recieve .stp files from our metal vendor, which import just fine...except the names in the BOM browser are not the actual file name?
Every part/sub assembly below the main assembly is given some NAUOxxxx (uniquire) name matching the Occurance. I can delete the Occurence on each part and it will change the browser and occurence but that is very slow.
Any way to change all at one time?
ALso the imported assemblies are units are mm and Rands.....rather then inches and degrees. Where do I change the default units when opening .STP files?
Thanks
Brian
Hi bmclouth,
Thanks for your reporting!
For NAUOxxx issue, may you share the STEP file here or just send to me via email Hongyuan.Li@autodesk.com ?
Before opening the STEP file, go to import options dialog box, then go to Units group, click the dropdown list and set Import Units=inch.

Hi bmclouth,
If you go to the Assemble tab > Productivity panel > Rename Browser Nodes button, can you use one of the options to get the result you want? :

It seems there was a change to the behavior of this in Autodesk Inventor 2014:
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
