Import Inventor file (.idw) to autocad (model space)

Hello,

How to import Inventor file 2D(.idw) to autocad 2D (model space) with dimensions, axes, sections, ... ?

Thanks.

Note: Inventor 2013 & Autocad Mechanical 2013

does saving it as a AutoCAD dwg work?

Save As > Save Copy As > then choose "AutoCAD Drawings (*.dwg)"

yes, I saved it as a autocad .dwg work.

When I open it with autocad I have a drawing in paper space and nothing in model space !

Moreover, it's "impossible" to make an adjustement in paper space.

It's easier with CATIA V5, just open your dwg in model space. Simple to make an adjustement and to allow a easy layouts.

SOLVED !  thank you richos69

  1. Export
  2. Export to DWG
  3. Select Type "Autocad DWG file"  (default: INVENTOR DWG file !!! ) - printscreen "DWG export-A"
  4. Click on "Options"
  5. Select option, button "Next" - printscreen "DWG export-B"
  6. Select parameters, button "Finish" - printscreen "DWG export-C"
  7. Save your DWG file
  8. You can use it with autocad in model space

This doesn't actually answer the question or solve the problem of bringing in a .IDW file into AutoCAD.  This tells you an alternate way of doing this by avoiding the use of .IDW file format.

What happens if you do not have Inventor available to open and then re-export as a DWG format?

Thanks
