imates in sketch blocks

Is there an option to add an imate within a sketch block.

I am working on a belt conveyor for handling coal and have created a master sketch to drive all components for along the conveyor.

As the ground modules are all the same module, i have a sketch block. Problem is i cannot add an imate to the idlers within the sketch block. It means i can only create to imates individually after the sketch block is copied or patterned.

Is there another solution?

Regards

Paul.

Hi,

Can you share with me the dataset and the steps you are trying.

Hi vinod

I don't have the data set handy. But the steps are as follows:

1. Create a 2d sketch in part document.
2. Save the sketch as a sketch block.
3. Assign imates to the block.
4. Enter into the sketch.
5. Pattern the sketch block.

The imates don't pattern with the sketch.

Hi Paul,

This is as designed. iMate works in Part environment and when we edit the sketch, we actually roll back the iMate input. We would suggest you to use Assembly Pattern-link feature pattern for this.

Hope it helps.
