igs file to solid

I am having trouble converting an IGS file, I inserted in a part file, to a solid. Can this be done. I tried to stitch it. I did not have any luck. What do you recommend?

Can you post the original IGES file?

Could you send me the IGES file to johnsonDOTshiueATautodeskDOTcom, so I can
take a look? Also what Inventor release are you on?
Thanks!

Hello Johnson,

I failed to mention that this particular iges file was generated from zemax. Will this be an issue?

When I had this happen good old MDT was able to stich it up for me when IV would not.

Try importing it into MDT and see if you can get it solid there.

IGES is IGES. Well...

Post the file, we'll see what can be done.

Joe,
i work at an optics company using zemax and this is an ongoing issue for us as well. my best results have come from having zemax output to a step file, then opening that in inventor. the elements are dumb solids and the marginal rays are not visible. I have tried these zemax outputs in other 3d programs with no success. This doesn't help you much but i feel your pain.

Joe,

Without the IGES file, any guess is possible. Could you send it to
johnsonDOTshiueATautodeskDOTcom, so I can take a look?
Thanks!
