Some while back some other SoftWare company did a performance test between
its package and Inventor. The test was to draw a simple block, put this
block in a simple subassembly and make a 10x10 array. Then place this sub in
an assembly and create another 10x10 array. Some of you probably will
remember this test.
Inventor originally did pretty well with this except when it came time to
show the hidden lines in the idw of this 1000 part assembly. This is when my
setup (at the time) would fail. Seems like I remember the error being a
"Heap List" error???
For each release of Inventor, I always migrate these parts, assemblies and
idw files just to see how the "New and improved" version will handle the
hidden line generation. R8 is the first time that the idw was displayed
correctly with the hidden lines and I didn't have any errors. I didn't time
it, but it was around 60 seconds to get the views displayed.
Definitely a step in the right direction. Way to go Inventor team!!
