.IDW in library

Does anyone store .idw files in a library directory?

When an assembly is released, I want to put all of the .iam, .ipt, .idw files in a library directory so when I use the parts again, I don't modify them.

I seem to have difficulty opening .idw's from the libary directory. Some of them lock up inventor, especially the assemblies with the pink ballons or dimensions that never go away no matter how many times I resolve them (before putting them in the library).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Library files can not be updated or changed, so I
imagine Inventor gets confused when they are placed there.

You sshould defer the updates on the .idw files,
this will stop them from updating.

Got to TOOLS>DOCUMENT SETTINGS>DRAWING
tab> then check Defer Updates.
