IDW Dimension Round Off

Is it possible to round off dimensions in an Inventor IDW drawing to the nearest 1/16" or 1/4" as an example. See attached pic of this setting in AutoCAD. Any work around that will make this happen is also appreciated (without over-riding the dimension)

you can set a dim style to fractional and then set the precision to the nearest 1/16th or whatever, but there is not a way to do this for decimal inches in the way that you can in AutoCAD. The setting you show in your screen capture simply doesn't exist in Inventor, and I don't miss it. It caused a lot of confusion when trying to reveal dimension busts in AutoCAD.

What if you only want to round off certain dimension? Like one or 2 on a drawing?

If you want to round a couple decimal dimensions from, say, 0.7351, you can set their precision to two decimal places (.00) and it will round that to .75.

For a single dim, you can just select the dimension and then on the annotate panel there will be a list of dimension styles you can choose to switch the particular dimension. If you are already in the style you want, but just want to reduce four decimal placed down to 2, etc, you can right click the dimension and choose precision and pick from the provided list.

Thank you for the reply.

What I am looking to do is round off but leave the decimal places to match the others. Such as for a reference dimension. For instance I would like 49.95 to read 50.00. Thanks.

This can be done by doing one of the followings.

1. Change the dimension format from Decimal to Fraction. Open an IDW file or IDW template file. Go to Manage -> Style and Standard Editor -> Dimension -> select the Default Standard -> go to the right -> Units -> change the format from Decimal to Fraction and select the appropriate Precision -> OK.

2. Change the default Dimension Style to Fraction or Architectural. Open an IDW file or IDW template file. Go to Manage -> Style and Standard Editor -> Standard -> Default Standard -> look to the right -> Object Defaults -> click on the pencil button -> change the default dimension styles (for various dimensions) to Fraction or Architectural.

Thanks!

Hi! For rounding off, you also need to make the change in Styles and Standard Editor in IDW/DWG file. Select Dimension node in the dialog -> find and select the default Dimension Standard -> go to the right -> Units -> change precision to 0.-> OK.

Thanks!

If you are only wishing to change a couple of Dims and not the whole drawing, Try RMB on the desired Dim, select the Precission required and change it. This will only affect the selected Dim.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file
