Hy.. I need some tips&triks for creating this wire mesh..thought to use materials but..
Hi Secttor,
Most often you would model that model as a solid "plate", and then apply an Expanded Metal appearance. If you need the exact weight for the assembly, or have some other need to have it exact, then it would mostly likely be done my modeling a small section and then patterning it. But the file will get large quickly.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Yes but in it's final stage the full pattern must fit the contour..

What does that mean?
You model the plate the exact same size as the mesh and apply cosmetic texture - it will look the same.
For weight (if needed) the iProperties can be overridden with correct weight.
Seconds to create.
This is a solid plate with expanded metal texture. Note that you can see through the solid plate.
File size is tiny.
Hi Secttor,
Something like the attached file is what I had in mind. Note this file is not perfectly accurate, but should give you an idea of how to move forward.
Again, the file will get large and hard to work with when you make patterns with lots of edges.
Use the End of Part marker to reveal the part features once you open it.
I hope this helps.

JDMather -which cosmetic texture looks simmilar?
Curtis - your method seems professional and I'll try it.. thanks!
I think the Expanded Metal 01 looks the most like your image.
You may need to edit the Scale to get it to look right on your part (and save as a custom name for future use).
Notice in my previous post that you can see through it after applied as though it was the real thing.
I quess I miss something with scaling cause seems unmodified even with these values..
I attached the part below for futher investigation. (Inventor 2014 Professional).
Looks like you are on the Generic image option screen instead of the Cutouts image. Nearly 10 years later, creating a mesh pattern in Inventor 2023 is a tremendous problem.
I agree with @Curtis_Waguespack and @JDMather , just use the appearance.
Create your own 3/4-10 material or whatever expanded metal you use, and set the density so you get the exact weight for the material you are using (no manual entry needed). You can also create and apply your own appearance to this so it looks "correct". Save this to your own custom material/appearance library. Now every time you use this you can just choose this material, and you get the correct appearance and mass no matter the shape.
Hope that helps.
