got this message on a new part that I was designing. I have not had this error
pop-up before on the 100 or so parts or assemblies that I have produced in the
past. The project does not have any broken links (that would highlighted in
red). I have also noticed that everything in that directory now has the same
error when trying pick a plain to sketch on. This is probably operator error,
but I am at a loss.
Cannot modify the library file H:\ENGINEER\BLOCKS\3-D\gfi

Project files have changed in R6
For one thing, if a path is showing in red in the
project dialog box it means that it is somewhat redondant and that you do not
need it any more. If you are to leave it there, you ar eslowing down the
opening process.
Second thing, to answer the question, the file
you are trying to modify is residing in a folder that is marked has a library
in your project dialog box.
Now either you decide that this is not a library
part and you move it in sub folder of your workgroup path...OR you create
yourself a 'library editing project file' that will point to your library
folder on your system as workgroup path....
I know this can get confusing, but this new way
provides for faster assembly file resolution.
Good day

However for small projects the advantages of
having links the left hand pane can outweigh the relative small slowdown of
the resolving of files. (I'm not gonna let this one die
