I NEED SOMETHING TO BUILD

Help! I am bored out of my mind with inventor! I've already made several things, including an M1911A1 handgun (completely with every single part of the gun). I need something that will help broaden my knowledge of inventor but also keep me busy for days if not weeks. I have googled intensely looking for blueprints of anything as complicated (if not more complicated) as a gun to build, but I haven't found anything. PLEASE HELP. All recommendations are appreciated.

P.S. Building a gun is a great passtime and quite fun to build. If anyone is interested ask me for the blueprints and I can send them to you. They aren't my own blueprints, but they are fully dimensioned with over 50 peices to build and assemble. Thanks Again!

Hi badbjbass,

Attached is a PDF that might work. It's a bit dated, but might still provide a challenge.

Also at the bottom of the page at this link, you'll find another link to the Inventor Wizards page. They have several smaller projects that might keep you busy:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

You might also look at GrabCAD, they have design challenges that offer prizes:

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much! All of the links are greatly appreciated. Uh oh. It said the file size for the gun is too big to post. Should I just send it to you in an email?

Being an owner and frequent shooter of an M1911 I would love to have those prints!

If you like modeling guns you could always browse a gun show for some cheap rifles or handguns and practice modeling from actual parts. You could also check the internet for old surplus guns, I've done business with jgsales.com a few times and would recommend them. I think a rifle stock would be a real challenge (for me anyways).

Hi there,

I was just wondering if you had any look at finding more advanced things to model since this thread?  I am looking for things to model to test my skills and build a portfolio. I would like to model some things that are mechanical and complex like the models on the inventor start screen. I am having a go at the engine tutorials on grabCAD but would like something else to work on too.

I am British and we don't really do guns so I don't think it would be suitable for my portfolio!

Thanks,

Wayne

This site has a slew of Steam Engines that can all be made mechanical (pistons, rods, etc...)

Just look around you and you should be able to find some things to reverse engineer.

Not sure which object you are referring to.

The $7.50 calipers is the measuring tool used on this project.

The white material is a Rapid Prototype created from the design on a Stratasys 3D Printer.

I've been meaning to try some small boat hulls - there seems to be a lot of available original drawings around

Use iLogic Copy? Please consider voting for this long overdue idea (not mine):https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/string-replace-for-ilogic-design-copy/idi-p/3821399
