I need a good 3d viewer!!!!

I need a good 3d viewer I can provide my customers that they can download for free and use without major hassle so they can view IV6 files. It needs to be easy to install and use, and produce decent pictures of the model. VoloView is no more and was a PITA for the customers. I had posted this question once before and can not find the link that was provided. I am considering the Acis viewer from a place like http://www.cimmetry.com/cimweb.nsf

What are my options? Suggestions?

For online collaboration, try:
Streamline at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/section/0,,2164318-123112,00.html
IPA at http://www.immdesign.com/
Concept Station http://www.conceptstation.com

Or for files you could send or post along with a free viewer to a client:
www.viewpoint.com
Spinfire http://www.actify.com/v2/products/spinfire/ (they have web
collaboration too)
Or convert to VRML and use one of the many free viewers available

I was going to suggest VV.  I never had any
issues with it.

Sean,
I wish I had better luck with VoloViewer, but since they are no longer supporting it I figured it best to find a easier and smaller viewer for the customer.

I was on the phone this morning for a1 hour trying to help a customer load VV on a 98 SE machine. He got VV to load but couldnt load the IV6 plugin, even after he re-downloaded it. We finally gave up.

have you found a plug-in for viewpoint that
will work with INV? I can't seem too.

You could export to XGL and use this XGL
viewer......See Customer files.

Darin,
Tried Stormfire with no luck 😞 I emailed CS for possible help. Have you tried it?

a little, on really simple parts. The one in
customer files worked great if there wasn't any materials assigned to the
parts.

I agree that
VVE
 was more
trouble than it was worth.  It was a hassle for customers to get it loaded
correctly, you cannot measure with it, and (last I checked) the transparent
colors did not show correctly.  I even had one customer that could not open
many of their Autocad drawings after loading VVE.

Anyway, I have
started recommending Rhino3d (evaluation version) as a CAD viewer to
my clients.  It is free, loads easily, and customers can measure the CAD
geometry with it.  From your Inventor assembly, just save as STEP, and
email the file.  The downside of course is that all of the parts will be
gray when opened in Rhino.
