Hurt my wirst badly

I use IV all day long with regular mouse and my wrist hurts very bad.
I tried to create many hotkeys on the keyboard and spacepilot, however,
still need to drag thing with the mousse
Just wondering if there is any kind of mouse on the market to avoid rest
your wrist while moving mouse
Thx

Quite a lot of us use Space Ball type controllers to move views around. I personally much prefer to use a trackball rather than a mouse for dragging things around in the graphic window. The trackball is not that expensive. If you can get one to try, you might like it.

Actually, it says "small/medium and large".

Anything I could use without resting my wrist on the mousse pad would be
perfect

I took one of those long raised pads you put in front
of your keyboard, cut it in half, and use one half
in front of my mousepad, and the other half in front
of my space traveller.

I've been using a large track ball for years. Whenever I have to use a
mouse or a small ball, I try to find an excuse to leave the building.
The one I have is an older "Kensington Expert House".
The ball is the size of a pool ball, about 2.25 inches diameter. In
fact, I hear that it is made by the same people who make billiard balls.
As I recall the pool ball was slightly smaller and less "round". Yes,
I tried to replace it with an 8-ball just for fun, but is didn't work. A
big plus for any track ball is that you don't need much desk space or a
pad. You can put on your lap or leg if needed. The only thing I added
was one of those squishy cushions for the wrist support.

I use that mouse, and I love it.

I actually was diagnosed with carpal tunnel, and with a few changes suggested by my doctor, the pain has gone completely away.

The most significant of his suggestions:

You need good, adjustable armrests on your chair, so that you can support your elbow so your forearm is parallel to the floor.

I ended up with a $500 chair - expensive, but cheap compared to surgery.

I have used a track ball, trackman or whatever, the logitech thumb marble since R2.
I am 6'3" and my paws dwarf the things but with a few creative mods it is very comfortable. Right now I have it on two thick foam mouse pads tor 5/8" elevation.
My station is L shaped and I sit in the crotch of it so my arms rest on the desk while working. I guess the key to ergonomics is to find what works for you, including your wrist.
Regular mice should be outlawed for bad ergonomics, besides a marble is way more accurate for picks and such.

Hello Chris,

Years ago when I had severe carpal tunnel, I used a tablet with a stylus.
It worked out really well. Get the ones w/o the batteries though, it made
the pen top heavy. It may not sound like much, but after 6 or 8 hours, your
index finger felt it.

Thank you,
Bryan

I have a desk for my work station at home, it is an "L" shape to my right,
so I can rest my right arm on it and use the mouse. I've had the carpel
tunnel syndrome before, it is quite unplesant. The way my desk is set up
really takes the stress away from holding my arm up in other situations.

Hi Chris

Like some others here I use a trackball mouse. At the moment my weapon of choice is the Logitech cordless optical trackman. I use it in conjunction with a wrist rest. My left hand weapon is the wonderful spacepilot. Hope this helps.

I would also go for the very expensive contoured office chair, that can be adjusted so that the armrests are slightly above the desk level.
If your forearm is not supported, then you will start feeling pain in your neck muscles and all the way down to your hand.
My back and neck pains disappeared one day after getting the chair.
GO for the chair first and then the fancy mouse.

Hello Chris,

At that point in time there was no Inventor, MDT, AutoSurf, or Designer,
just AutoCAD R12. At that point in time it was a small Calcomp tablet I
think.

Thank you,
Bryan

Just another suggestion (who really help me ! ) Use a Spaceball. You will save more than 40% of mouse movement.
Look on e-bay, you will find some for 25% of the price.
You will reduce your mouse movement and also add your productivity. I had some wirst problem in the past and this really help me. But, a good chair and desk are better than the Spaceball... ;0)
