Hello Gentelmen,
Suppose I have this part, see stp file attached, that would be made by laser cutting from a flat sheet of polycarbonate and then mending it over a cymindric surface, 400mm in diamiter. The question is how do I "undend" this 3d part, to get a profile for lase cutting?

Mine opened in Autocad as a Surface file ... Did you do it in Inventor ?

I cannot figure out why you are using the technique you are using.
See attached.
Click on Flat Pattern.
