How to subtract material away with another part.

So what i have is an imported STP file from one of our customers and what i have to do is take that part and basically make a mold of the surface of that part into another base. That way we can eventually machine out the opposite image type of thinf so the part fits into it. I attempted to do derive but errors occur. I will attach a file of what im working with. It needs to just the face but just as deep.

Already attempted using derive as well as double checking and following all steps. Still error occurs.

Zip and attach the original STEP (or the translated ipt) here and end all doubt.

Hi!

  1. Create pathes to close the gaps.
  2. Copy the faces and stitch with the patches to create only one surface
  3. Open one sketch in one plane below the geometry and project the geometry boundary
  4. Create a extrutusion growing "to" the surface created in step 2.

Try this

Drag the red End of Part marker to the top of the browser hiding all features.

Right click Delete the imported information node.

Save the file with the red EOP in a rolled up state.

Right click on the filename and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here

or here Autodesk 360 (and indicate url to download).

Personally, I don't go to drop boxes as I have had bad experience with malware installed in the background.

I prefer to use A360 drive.

Good luck!

Hi!

One example to do what you seek.

For a better finish part, you have to spend more time with some problematic surfaces.
