Can you explain your need for a polyline?

Why would it be useful in Inventor?

A sketch block might give you some functionality similar to a polyline.

As always digging old post is my hobby...

FYI, i needed it today to be able to estimate the perimeter of my assembly. (whithout pain plz!)

Frankly asking why a polyline would be usefull is upsetting/insulting imo. Its called a drawing and it contain more than one line so might as well help the process and eliminate the need to constraint!

Create a model using the profile you showed in your attachment.  If you just extrude it, see below and you will get your perimeter without needing a polyline.

No.

Inventor don't use or need Polyline.  All profiles behave like "polyline".

If you need polyline, use AutoCAD.

Measure tool in Inventor will get the info you need:

You said you wanted the polyline to give you the perimeter.  If you are just looking to sketch in the idw then yes, @Frederick_Law  is correct get Autocad.  What I showed you is in the model.  That is where what you are looking for what you want in the perimeter.

As you have found, Inventor does not use polylines.  Would a spline get you close-enough?

The region properties command needs one or more closed loops.

The properties command only addresses line types, line weights, and colors. 

What happens if you use an Inventor dwg and open it up in AutoCAD?

Then create your inventor drawing, maybe tie the perimeter into a property and link into the drawing.  Then export to an Autocad .dwg.

Faster then export and measure in AutoCAD.

Even faster once you change it.

Change dimension to driven and you can drag it to change.

Is there any way to do this measurement of a chain easier?? Without exporting to AutoCAD or making something so crasy using parameters like above? I lost myself by clicking in those lines and i forget where I started...

But this profile is open, i cant measure with region properties like you said. Even if I close the sketch with a construction line i still cant measure that lenght

Hi! The length of connected line segments can be measured. You don't need to add them up. Go to Measure tool -> mouse-hover a line -> right-click -> Loop. The tool will show the total length of the loop.
