How to display (") instead of (in) with dimensions

Hello,

I am trying to display my dimension units in inches but I am having difficulty displaying the (") symbol after the number. e.g. 24" instead of 24 in.

I have my units set to in. and if I check the "unit string" box under Display it only shows (in) after the dimension number. I am using inventor 2013, thanks for any help in advance.

Drawing environment or part sketch environment - more information needed.

Hi hawkinsCadGuy,

In addition to the previous replies, there are two ways that come to mind. You might want to look into both to see which works best for you:

  1. You can use the "suffix trick" as described at this link (just be sure and set up your Object Defaults so that Angle dimensions do not use the style with the '' suffix):      http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/Inch-markers/m-p/2984110#M399245
  2. Or use the Architectural dimension style as shown in this image (if that style works for your needs):

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Here is a thread that might speak to what you are talking about.  If not, like JD said, we would need more information.

Thank you all for your help. It was in IDW environment but I used the suffix trick Curtis suggested and that solved my issue, thank you Curtis.

This will only work on the Dimension tool.  It will not work for the Hole and Thread tool.

Hi, You may change notes and leaders by adding " on every item.

like thru hole was: Ø<HDIA> THRU

you can add " to it (Ø<HDIA>" THRU)

Regards

Not if you use different dimension styles for angles...
