How to delete a sketched symbol

I have created a sketched symbol for use in a drawing and inserted the symbol into my drawing. My user defined symbol appears in the symbols list but I cannot seem to delete it. How do I now delete this user defined sketch symbol from my drawing please ? Thank you

If it wont let you delete it from your browser the most likely reason is because you have it placed somewhere. You can't delete something from your browser if it is on one of your sheets. Delete all placements of the symbol and then it should allow you to delete it form the browser.

Hi, thank you for your reply. The sketched symbol is not present in my drawing or the browser tree but it is shown in the symbols list under Annotate-Symbols-User.

I was wondering how to remove it from this list if it is no longer present in the drawing and browser ?

Thanks

That list is driven by the contents of the sketched symbol browser node. Are you sure the symbol your trying to get rid of isn't in that list (the one highlighted in red)?

I have double checked in the browser list and the sketched symbol is not present in the list however it is present under the symbols list - not quite sure why this can be ? Any ideas would be much appreciated

I don't think that's normal behaviour. My understanding is those two lists should always match.

I agree. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I have a user defined title block in the drawing ? Sorry I didn't mention this earlier. I am using a title block that I have defined myself, not entirely sure how this could affect sketched symbols if at all ?

It shouldn't matter what your doing with titleblocks.

I thought similar. It's not a massive problem, would be nice to know why it's happening. Thanks again for your comments.

having the same issue too.
wonder if there is any "purge" option inventor.

like what usually did in autocad is to purge the drawing before i can remove the blocks completely

Hi! Though there is no Purge All command in Inventor Drawing Annotation workflows, you may change the Selection Filter to select certain object types and delete. You can set the priority to sketch symbol. This will only select sketch symbols but nothing else.

Many thanks!

John,

Seems that symbols are not in the filter tree

You can actually go to the sketch symbol directory and open the 'Library' drawing and do whatever you can do with a normal drawing, including deleting, re-arranging, etc. custom symbols

My directory is std install: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Design Data\Symbol Library

Hope this helps someone.
