how to create a tray with a slope bottom

How would i create the shape on the bottom of the tray ..  the shape goes to a point so as to drain water down the pipe.It would then be shelled out...

Something like this?  It's a 2015 file.  In case you can't open it, I'll tell you what I did.  You can actually loft between a profile and a point.  It will essentially extrude that profile and make every edge meet at a single point.  After that you can shell it easily.  Let me know if you need help.

How will the tray be manufactured?

Sheet metal or vacuum formed plastic or other?

 

If sheet metal - do you need the flat pattern?

 

These questions determine how I would model the part(s).

JD,it is a solid model for demonstration..Solid modelling tools would do the job for this model

Looks fine to me, you do have some extra sketches that were not needed and there would have to be some fillets at bends.

But for a simple visual model it looks good.

 

Be sure to install Service Packs 1 and 2 for Inventor 2014.

Which sketches were extra and not needed please?

Could you show with my last attempt what you would not use?
