Make sure you have the latest Hot Fixes and SP installed.

File Open type AutoCAD DWG
Options>Import
then
run Feature Recognition from http://labs.autodesk.com (optional)

That is the easy way - now the hard way
In AutoCAD acisout
In Inventor File Open *.sat
run Feature Recognition from http://labs.autodesk.com (optional)

Even the hard way is easy.

Um - File>Open - set file type to DWG?
Or: Open the DWG in AutoCAD - save it as a STEP file then open it in IV.

If you have Feature Translator plug-in installed, you can create a feature tree too.

I have also had success with Open, Files of type .dwg.
However, the dwg must have solids, not lines. If it is a 3D solid .dwg, then it should come in fairly easily. Each of the 3D solids will be made into an .ipt and assembled into an assembly.
