How to control template used for frame reference model?

Hi,

Have always been able to solve problems with a search on this forum, but this time, I am drawing a blank.

I have been using Inventor for several years but am just now starting to play with the Frame Generator.

Is there any way to control which part template the Frame Reference Model uses? because if there is, I can't find it.

It seems to be taking the first template that starts with the word "standard." I thought it might be taking the first part template alphabetically but making a new template called "Frame Reference" didn't help either.

Thanks,

Jason

I have found a workaround now - it does seem to use the alphabetically first template that begins with the word "Standard". So I made a template part with no geometry called "Standard Frame Reference" which it seems to use by default.

Would still be nice to know how to select a template, if this is possible.

How Inventor selects its templates depends on which command is used. If starting using the icons in the quick access menu then yes it will look for a default template with Standard in the name. If selecting New from the Get Started tab then you will have your choice of templates to pick from. If in an assembly and you select Create again you get all the options on which template to use.

For you instance first create the assembly file (which ever template you need) then select the Create command as you would with any file created in an assembly and select the option button on templates and select the template you want for the core of your sketches or base models you will use to create your frame. Then add the sketches or base models. Then when the sketch is done you exit the file back to the top assembly and use frame generator.
