How to calculate section modulus on certain cross section of a solid part

I am trying to verify the bending strength of a solid part. Need to calculate the section modulus on certain cross section. Don't know how to do it using inventor. Any one there can help? Thanks a lot.

Do you not have Inventor Professional with FEA?

I don't have a complete solution for you (unless you have Inventor Professional) - but I suspect in standard Inventor it will start here

Inspect>Section>Advanced

One quick way, it to create your section views on a drawing, open in AutoCAD Mech, delete the Hatch and use the functionality within AutoCAD Mech that ships with Inventor. Since it creates a nice text box with the data it can be placed with each view. Makes the documentation clean and tidy.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Create your drawing of your part and then create your Slice-Section views. Then open the drawing in AutoCAD Mech, under the Content tab you will find the Calculation box, use the drop-down icon to get to the Moment of Inertia calculator. This will calculate the MOI of a closed profile. You will need to do this for each section view. I would suggest deleting the Hatch pattern or turn off/freeze the Hatch layer as not to mess with the calculation. I am currently unable to attach pictures from my machine at work.

How much experience do you have calculating stress and displacement by hand?
