You could probably do something in iLogic. You might have better luck using Sheet-Metal parts as it properly orients the part to a top and bottom so you need need to deal with these surfaces and not a side face.

You can use iLogic to read the Area propertie with the following rule.

surfaceArea=iProperties.Area

Look at this see if this will do it for you. Look at the ilogic code...

Oh also so it updates when you change the part make sure you set the trigger in the Rules Triggered by Events see pic.

This will give you the total surface area "all sides", or did you just need the "top surface area"

Hi! I just checked it on R2010 and the ability to add Area in PartsList is not available there either. I guess you might have some custom Add-In allowing it via Inventor API in R2010. Or, you were talking about Sheet Metal Flat Pattern Area. For the pariticular behavior you are talking about, it is consistent across Inventor releases so far.

Thanks!

Can i easy to do in one time one click like macro?

You can make the ilogic a external rule for the ones that don't have it and for new parts put the ilogic code in the Rules of the part so every new part you make it is there already done.

Give me a sec I will post external rule for you just remember to put the code in template file so new parts will have it in them and you will not have to run the external rule every time.

Here is a external rule if you do not know what to do with it let me know.

 I could write a code that would do it from an assembly but I don't have the time right now to do that.

 Just make sure you put a custom iproperty named AREA in the part before you run the rule or it will error out on you..

Hope this helps you..

I had to zip it for some reason autodesk does not allow this file type to be attached.

You can set up an external ologic file. Then just run a loop in it on all open files maybe.
