How to animate an object from Inventor

I have a part in Inventor 2015 and I would like to animate in Maya, 3d max and give it some effects. How can I transfer the model to Maya or 3d max? Or what type of files do these 3d Modelling softwares read?

Max can import directly from  iam and ipts or suitworkflow directly from Inventor.

Anyway from Inventor you can export in many formats that you can open in Max/Maya, iges, step, sat, etc

Colours will be maintened, but no more.

If you want to do some mechanism animation your job done in Inventor (constraints, relationships...) will not be retained in Max/Maya.

But you can do it in Autodesk Showcase, constrains and drived movements will be kept in Showcase as Behaviors..ready for animation videos.
