How to 3D draw a Motorcycle Frame in Inventor

I am in my Capstone project at school, seeking a video on how to dimensionally draw a Motorcycle Chopper, hardtail or softtail frame, including the front end with the triple tree, down-tubes and handlebar.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Maybe someone has a video out there but I don't think you're going to find an exact video showing all of what you want.  Do you have anything started in Inventor?  What version are you using?

Thanks for responding. I am a student using 2015 Inventor. So far, I have
the motorcycle rims, wheel, gas tank (with components) drawn.

Any assistance that you can offer is appreciated.

Google ...

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=how+to+draw+a+motorcycl...

Frame generator ... would be a great start.

you'd start with the 3d sketch of the pipe's and go from there ..

I will say if you're a student and new to Inventor, this isn't an easy task.

Thanks for the reference!

I am a beginner with Inventor. My instructor, who is a Sr. Engineer offered
me this challenge for the final Capstone Project. I am willing to take the
time needed for the perfect design and I have 10 weeks to do it in.

Any other helpful hints would be appreciated.

Hi dlmulder48,

I would think that Frame Generator is the way to go about this, at least to start off with.

See this link about using solids as your frame skeleton:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Last years AU2014 there was a good class on Multi-Body Solid modeling with the model being controlled/driven by a spread sheet. The example was a motor bike. Not much different from a pedal bike.

I'll see if I can track it down later today.

I think it was Walt's class, he had both a sports car driven by spread sheet and showed a bike frame as well.

If I remember correctly, @mflayler, or a colleague of his, may have had a video on IMAGINiT's website, but I'm unsure if it's for the paid learning classes or not..

I think they show how to model the frame with solid bodies.

Yeah like the rest are saying best bet is using the frame generator. Its a great tool for something like that, i use it every day at work to build frames for trade shows, actually just used it to work on AU2015 in vegas. 3d sketches and frame generator are gonna be your biggest friend for this. If you have any questions on it or anything else ill see what i can do to help.
