Use the Coil command to cut them - just like the real world.
But you used the wrong size hole for a 16mm thread - use the tap drill size - you have no material for thread engagement.

I tried the coil command which gives a thread but how to i fix as it is not correct.I started with this part before the nut
Where did i go wrong?
Have you ever cut a thread on a lathe?
The cutting tool must start off of the part before entering the part.
What thread designation are you using? (what book or website)
Your thread does not appear to be a standard angle to me?
Do you want a left hand thread or a right hand thread?

You do need to make sure you are using the right thread shape/angle like JDMathers was saying ... and
Just start your first thread above the solid that you want to show threads on to show it all of the way.
I noticed the stock sized are odd too ..you have 15.7 and 9.65. You should have your stock set up for the right thread you want too.
Just a note, becareful on memory comsumption ...that's why a lot of people stop putting the cuts in and just use the show threads in the 2d
Thanks Michael
Would you have a 2014 version of the file you attached
Yes it should have been 10mm and 16mm.....i deleted some features of the part and did not re-check
Thanks again
Damian
I only adjusted the bottom one ...
also

I adjusted the pitch to 2. Changed the OD to Ø16,0 mm
Be sure to post your final result file.
Are you going to 3D print these parts?

I changed the smaller thread. How do you finish off the thread ends....is this with another coil?
Thanks
If this is correct do i just do the same to the nut?
Thanks
What book or url reference are you using for the threadform?
I think you probably need to change that 90° to 60°.
Also, isn't a thread specification normally given in terms of Pitch?
I would Chamfer before the Coil.
Add a 1/4 turn 60°Taper Coil to finish off the thread to make it look realistic.

Maybe something like this is what you are after.
