How do I insert wire thread inserts/helicoils into a model?

I am new to using Inventor after spenging the last 8 years on Unigrpahics, I am trying to insert a helicoil into a model but I cannot find this within the inventor package. Is there a simple way of doing this inside the part or will I need to add this at the assembly level?

Thanks for your help

You could Derive Component into the part file

or

place Component in the assembly file.

It should absolutely be done at the assembly level..(IMO)

I use "pem nuts" in many of our enclosures and I simply have the ipt file with just the required holes then the iam file (same filename/part number as the ipt) where I add/constrain the pem nuts.

Simon,

Welcome to the forum.

If you are trying to create a helicoil from scratch you can save yourself some time and go to McMaster-Carr and download the models from there.

Then just insert it into your assembly.

Thanks for the responses guys, it's seems its the same way I used to do it on Unigraphics. I have decided the best method for the company is to create a thread insert as an ipart in the content centre and then insert the wire thread at a detail assembly level.

Thanks for your help guys
