How do I change the units from English to metrics permanently

Whenever I start a new part, I have to change the units in 5-6 clicks to metrics. And next time I have to do the same all over again.

Is there a way to do this permanently?

Many Thanks

I am not sure, but i think you can only make this setting when you install inventor on your system.

Autodesk Inventor 2010 Certified Professional.
Product Design Suite Ultimate 2016.

Windows 7 Professional x64.
HP Z600 E5520 2.26Ghz.

You need to use a metric template.

I don't know but it feels like it has to be possible. I mean any other software is able to do this even after installation.

"You need to use a metric template."

Can you explain that in detail?

thanks

When you start a new file you should have tabs at the top, Default, English and Metric.

If you installed with inches as the default, the default templates are inch units.

I believe you can copy the templates from the Metric folder and replace the templates in the default folder.

Then your default templates will be metric.

Change from Imperial to Metric on Revit Architecture... After installation - Permanently!

Go to the Revit button -> Options -> "File Locations" tab -> click on browse under "Default template file" -> Go up one level (little folder icon with arrow going up at top right) -> US Metric -> DefaultMetric -> Open -> OK

You have replied to an ancient thread.

You have given information about Revit - but this is the Inventor forum.

The method for changing default units in Inventor has changed (and is trivially easy now).
