How can the output layer for a DXF be controlled 2008

I work for a fabricator and we have an old torch that runs on a program with some specific requirements to read a DXF file.  The lines in the DXF must be red and continuous.  I have been experimenting with the save copy as command and haven't found a way to control the output layer. I assume there must be a way to do this since it's a pretty simple idea I just can't find the right setting.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

We put our parts that need DXFs on a drawing sheet and use the layers there for various things. Then do a "Save Copy As" from there to make the DXF file.

Peace,

When you RMB on the Flat Pattern (because I think this is only available in the Sheet Metal environment) and select SAVE COPY AS, then select DXF extension, the below window will pop-up allowing you to set layers, colours and visibility.
