How can I show threads on a Inventor drawing without shading the view?

What is the technique for showing threads on a Inventor drawing? I have an model with the 3D threads shown but when I switch over to the drawing there are no threads shown. I DO NOT want to shade the views.

I activated the Thread Display toggle button in Edit View but still nothing...not even dashed lines or cosmetic threads such as SolidWorks has.

It should show the hidden lines on the shaft..
Even without having to turn on the thread display toggle
for parts..Assemblies you need to turn that option on.

Sounds like you may have a graphics problem if they are not showing up upon base view placement.

Is it an ISO view or idw of an ipn?

If so then no. At least not with IV10

It's a .idw of an .ipn.
Can I at least show threads of a .ipt on a .idw?

Yes but not in an ISO view.

That's not good for the assemblers out on the floor that need to see parts as they really are. I will see if SolidWorks can do it tonight just for s**ts and giggles.

Dear Lisa!

It is hardly a new issue. Could you please check with your development
teams?

Thank you,

Igor.

Could you give me update on thread line visibility?

I am using IV14.

In INV 2014 (and 2015) thread features still do not show up in isometric views.

And what did you want? It has been "only" eight years since the issue was verified and logged by Lisa. Patience, my friend, patience! LOL!

Cheers,

Igor.

Was this problem ever resolved?  Threads aren't showing up in my drawings.  A screenshot is attached.  The smaller end of the piece is threaded.  I created it by revolving a sketch in the finished shape and then threading that piece, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

In your case, I think you can do so:

- Right click  at base view in IDW

- Hook at Display Thread Features

If only a base view exists, all after that created parallel views show threads.

But no thread display in ISO views. I think, at least the end circle of threads could be done.

All I get are lines which look like hidden lines for the walls.  Again, screenshot attached.

That is the standard Simplified Representation of threads.

If you want the cosmetic representation you will need to change your view to Shaded.

If you want physical cut thread (Detailed Representation) you will have to model them with the Coil feature (just like the real world).

 Hi Telson,

It is true that the thread is still not shown in iso non-shaded view. Starting from Inventor 2018, you can create model-based definition (3DA) on the part and assembly directly. Would it help?

Many thanks!
