how can I draw parallel to lines oriented in another direction?

Dear All,

I am building a geometry in Autodesk Inventor, and I am trying to draw rectangles with parallel orientation to the lines I drawed, as shown in the figure. The problem is that I can only draw rectangles which are parallel to the horizontal lines, and not to the diagonal. How can I create a sketch in a way that allows me to draw parallel to the diagonal lines? can It be done by rotating the workplane? If yes, how can I do that?

regards,

Hugo

I do not see an image or ipt file attached, but if you use the 3-point rectangle command and scrub (do not pick) your reference line just before the second pick, you should automatically get a parallel constraint.

Post back if you need a Screencast of the steps (and post your reference file).
