Hi,
I have suggested that we invest in tooling for sheet metal hemming, for the "textbook" advantages: (from sheetmetal.me) "Hems are commonly used to re-enforce, hide imperfections and provide a generally safer edge to handle." In addition, by reinforcing we will have a possibility to use thinner sheets for the same strength, and thus, spare weight.
However, I'm having a hard time making examples to specific usage scenarios, or rather specific products in our catalogue. this is wanted because the focus is mainly to spare exenses to be able to defend apurchase of this tooling.
So I ask you kindly; If you could share some pictures/screenshots etc. of scenarios in your production where hems have been beneficial to you. + creative uses of hems on sheet metal plates. If there are similarities to the parts that we produce, I could use these pictures to argument the possibilities of such tooling. I am very grateful for any contribution, thank you.
You've already stated the benefits/usage of hems..
If you have no ideas as to what parts your company makes that could use a hem then why did you recommend you purchase the tooling?
Most common place I see hems being used is in computer cases/dvd players,etc... Every computer case I've seen has at least 1 hem somewhere..
Of course there is also google images where you should be able to find tons of images showing hems..
