Holes program

Wondering if there has been an update to Drew's Hole program.... which
Inventor NEEDS... to have as part of its own program
thanks,

I believe he posted it to IVCF a while back. You might want to contact him though.
I think he was working on a little bug on it or something??

Brian,

R8.0 was released early Dec and R8.01 was released 2 days later or so. The
version in customer files is 8.0

8.01 wasn't a bug fix per se but rather an easy to implement interface
enhancement with respect to point angle defaults.

Its all available from front page of www.mymcad.com

No joke. Is IV a MCAD program or not? I bet 100% of mech designers use
screw clearances. And wouldn't you think adding a screw clearance box
next to the tapped box in the hole program would be a week end job for
some overachiever? Is there some secret method for adding screw
clearance? An I-feature maybe?----------

I just installed IV8 today and since Autodesk said they reworked the Holes interface I thought maybe they would have implemented standard Cbores/Csinks for imperial and metric screws. To my chagrin this functnality still has not been added. Do they really think we can remember what size should be filled in for every screw size?

Drew, I'm glad that you wrote such a good add-on, but I agree that Autodesk NEEDS to integrate this basic functionality into Holes. And while they're at it, put in a selection for a pipe thread holes too. I have to believe this project could be assigned to a junior level programer. Guess I have to wait until IV9....

Goto

and scroll down.  They have
IVHoles which does what you want.

I think the main point of this thread was to let Autodesk know that its customers would like this functionality integrated into it software. Standard CBore/CSink and pipe holes are available with Inventor's competitors - SolidWorks, SolidEdge, etc.

It's OK to have a workaround when the software was brand new, but we're at version 8.0 now. What do you guys think, am I being unreasonable?
