Holes driving me to dispare

I sat down this morning to draw what I thought was going to be a simple
little drawing, A tube with 8 countersunk holes 25mm from each end.

Well I am still here, the 3d model took no time, but can I create a 2D
drawing from it!

My first problem is I can not create hole notes for the holes, moving the
mouse of the hole high lights it but it does not let me select it. (The
hole is in the same plane as the drawing)

My second problem is trying to place a general dimension to show the
location of the hole with regards to the end of the tube, it will not allow
me to select the center of the hole.

My third problem is if I do 'Get model Dimensions' then it imports the
dimension I was trying to draw above, now if I break the view the dimension
does not update with the break so that the dimension stays the same size on
screen, i.e well of the side of the page)

My 4th problem is that puting the break in the drawing consumes 100% CPU for
about 20seconds. This is a single extrusion I am trying to break!!

Is anyone else having this sort of problem, I am hoping that SP1 is going to
fix this!

Seeing as the project I am just starting on is made entirly of round parts,
Inventor isn't looking like it is going to be much use to me!

Stephen.

Are you sure the holes are normal to the view plane? I just gave it a try
(countersink hole in a tube patterned 8 near each end) and the hole note and
all the dims came in fine. How did you establish the workplane for the holes
(Origin plane then pick workplane tool/pick cylinder OD) ?

See embedded: (note: pre-release of SP1 for R6 installed, don't know if R6
will show the same results)

Click on the hole a number of times. It took 3 or 4 clicks to get the hole
note to appear. This works even on the holes that are not aligned to the
view.

Worked fine here. Try placing a center mark on the hole, and dimension to
it. (Standard procedure anyway?)

Broken views had a number of issues in the initial R6 release. I'm seeing
much improvement.

I have fixed most of my hole problems. I had the countersink radius to
large, so that it broke through the wall of the tube, before it had tappered
down to the correct radius. Fixing this resolved most of my issues. I can
now add hole notes and center marks to the hole, most of the time 😉

The imported diemensions and broken views is still an issue though.

Can't wait to get hold of SP1.

Thanks,

Stephen.
